Zope Presentation Templates

The METAL, TAL and TALES specifications have been defined for the 1.0 release of ZPT

ZPT's operational scope has been extended from XML/XHTML to also support plain-old HTML4

We are still figuring out how to do error handling in ZPT. Want to help?.

The goal: ZPT 1.0 by April 1st (no joke).

Summary

Zope 2.3.1 beta 2 released

Recent News

This week's not-so-weekly update: Thursday Mar. 14 we released Zope 2.3.1 beta 2. We anticipate making one more beta and, barring any problems, a final right around the end of the month.

The 2.3.1 b2 release contains quite a number of bug fixes, including all hotfix issues to date. Some major rework was done on the innards of ZCatalog between b1 and b2 (hence the long lag time) to solve some long-standing scale issues. New data structures have been introduced that should reduce the number of ConflictErrors (and request retries) spurred by frequent indexing on busy sites and substantially reduce the object database bloat that could occur when frequently updating indexed objects.

The changes to the ZCatalog have been designed so that newly created ZCatalog objects will take advantage of the new data structures. Existing ZCatalog objects will continue to work as before with the old data structures, but will not take advantage of any of the new code. Existing ZCatalog objects can be upgraded to use the new data structures by "following the How-To",

Many, many thanks to Jim Fulton, Chris McDonough and Andreas Jung for their hard work on ZCatalog these last few weeks.

The CMF is at 1.0 beta: Download Now to try it out.

Some hilights: Topics, which allow you to easily aggregate content in a Yahooish style; Discussion now stores feedback with the item under discussion; and Membership has been abstracted to allow users to come from sources other than a Member Folder in the portal itself.

In order to successfully engage our mission of improving The Zope.org experience, we must first allow many Zopes to interact with the same user store.

Jens Vagepohl is working to make it so with the LDAPLoginAdapter which will allow authentication to happen via LDAP.

Nobody Loves Me

Almost a month ago, I made a proposal about what think should be done to Zope.org.

Apparently, everyone agrees with me or is entirely apathetic. Please comment, as it will become a project very soon.
