CMF News

CMF 1.1 Released

CMF 1.1 hits the streets with a jaunty swagger. Tres decides discretion is the better part of valour... and runs away! "In the best traditions of open-source and free software, I am heading out of town tomorrow for a long vacation"

If you avoided the 1.1 beta, update now. Lots of bug-fixes, plus -

  • "Skinned folder" module, which permits creation of "folderish" types with customized replacements for index_html.
  • "run_all_tests" script, to simplify running all unit tests for CMF-related products.
  • Improved support for the DublinCore "Contributors" element.
  • Map "normal" Zope objects as content

...and a quick tip from Dan on installing DCWorkflow 0.2 for through-the-web workflow-creation.

If you can't remember why you wanted to upgrade to 1.1 in the first place , remind yourself here . Highlights include pre-installed CMF-topics, and a CMF-Calendar to experiment with!

Bits and Pieces

Jon posted a first-cut javascript WYSIWYG HTML editor.

Pre-configured portals? James asks how to determine at setup what content-types are available in a portal, Tres posts an external method. Karl wants to install topics from Python.

Various discussions about Members - Cyrille wants to modify the default folder created for Members, Seb gives some guidance, and Jens summarises the technique. Gregoire wants to customise standard member-folders, Dan and Jon provide pointers.

Robert requests comments on ways to translate the CMF for non-English speakers.

Silly Stats

No silly stats this week, sorry. Statmaster-Seb is out-of-town... sightings of Seb, Tres, and Elvis in a Montana drive-thru have been strenuously denied!

Recent News

In Zope news this week, Zope 2.3.3 was released June 20

The Zope 2.3.3 release is a minor bug-fix release that will ensure that there is an up-to-date stable release that requires no hotfixes for Zope newcomers (and, once 2.4 is released, for those who don't want to upgrade right away).

The first Zope 2.4 beta was also released or will have been by the time you read this :) We are aiming for a July 9 final release of Zope 2.4.0.

More info about what is new in 2.4 can be found in the Zope 2.4 Migration Guide

Zope.org enhancement

We have what I hope will be the final mockup and later today I hope to have the main page template based on that done.

Thanks to Andrew Sawyers for doing a ZPT skin for all the default content in the CMF.

Slow News

Sorry for the delay in the news: I took friday off to enjoy the solstice and my 25th trip around the sun.
