Package Searching

One of the primary functions of the repository is to enable text searching of package metadata to locate specific packages, both for web browsing and web services.

To enable FTI and searching of packages, two methods are used. One is integration with the openacs search mechanism (http://openfts.sf.net) so that packages can be searched along with site content. The other mechanism is based on the postgesql's tsearch module (written by the authors of openfts) to index individually and collectively a package's searchable metadata. This second mechanism will be the primary search tool for webservices and browser package specific searches.
