Callable Folders are Folders that have their __call__() method overridden to invoke a contained index_html method.

You could also think of them as folderish DTML Documents just a tad more flexible because the index_html can be anything callable (e.g. a Python Script).
If called from the Web the ZPublisher will do the calling for you, even with standard Folders. The difference is that with Callable Folders you can do it from DTML as well! Like in <dtml-var mycallablefolder>.

Callable Folders make IMO very neat containers (somehow "objects-on-the-fly") that allow to organize a Zope site in new ways and at the same time make one's DTML a bit cleaner. Please see the online help for more explanations and examples.

To install simply extract the tarball into your Products directory and restart Zope.
