Use Case: Move or copy content between folders
Actor: Content Creator
Goal: Ensure that information is up-to-date, accurate, and organized
Folders are a way to organize your content into a hierarchy. Each folder corresponds to a path element in a URL. Once you have created a content object you may need to move or copy it to another folder.
To do so, navigate to the folder containing the content object which you would like to move or copy. You may do this by clicking either the Folder contents or My Stuff links in the actions box.
Select one or more checkboxes next to the content objects you would like to move or copy. Click the Cut button (or the Copy button, if you wish to create a copy in the new location rather than moving the content). The system will set a cookie on your browser representing the items you cut or copied. (Note that you must have cookies enabled in your browser.)
Navigate to the folder into which you wish to move or copy the content. This may be an entirely different folder or, if you are creating a copy, the same folder.
To make the current folder the destination for your newly moved or
copied content, click the Paste button. The system will move or
copy the content into the folder. New content whose IDs would
conflict with exising content in that folder will receive an
auto-generated name, typically copy_of_
prepended to the orginal ID.
The Undo changes to content use case describes how to undo this action.
