Description | resource summary |
Description

The Client/Server Product can be used to transfer Zope objects from one Zope application (client) to another (server). It extends Zope's Import/Export function and transfers the objects via XML-RPC. It uses a double authentication mecanism and a symmetric encryption algorithm to ensure security.

NOTE: This product has been outdated. Don't use it anymore unless you are very sure what you're doing. I recommend using ZSyncer by Andy McKay instead. It is based on this product but is far more evolved. I will be working with Andy on ZSyncer in the future.

Requirements
This product requires the TwoFish Encryption for Python by Eric Lee Green. A compiled Windows Version can be downloaded here.
Installation

Server:
Download the Server tarball, install it into your Products directory and restart Zope.

Client:
Download the Client tarball. It contains the files ObjectManager.py and importExport.dtml which replace the respective files in the OFS folder (remember to make backups!!). The files are included for Zope 2.1.6, Zope 2.2.0 and Zope 2.2.1 in the respective directories. If you have a different Version, read the README.txt in the /other directory of the tarball. Restart Zope after replacing the files.

Both:
As mentioned above, both (Client and Server) require the TwoFish encryption module, which must be installed first.

How do I use it?

How does it work?

WARNING
This product is absolute alpha! You should not use it in a production system. Backup your Data.fs before installing.
Use at your own risk! |
