I would suggest using SmileyChris's updated version of FSCounter which is available here. It has several good improvements.

FSCounter is an improvement over ZCounter, by creating a web page hit counter that uses the File System to store the value, stopping the ZODB from being filled with multiple copies of the same object.

It also allows the user to print the number in image format by linking to images the user has already.
