Initiation of the Public Support Committee (PSC)
The PSC was enabled on the 2002-03-11 by the following PSF board resolution:
Resolution made by Tim 09-Mar-2002
Seconded by Guido 09-Mar-2002
Approved unanimously 11-Mar-2002
RESOLVED, that the PSF establishes a Public Support Committee (PSC), under
section 5.9 of the PSF bylaws. Marc-Andre Lemburg is a director member of
this committee, and all PSF directors are alternate members. The full
membership will be determined by later resolution. The PSC researches ways
to increase public support for the PSF, and proposes specific
recommendations to the Board for implementation. This includes, without
limitation, finding ways to implement direct funding of the PSF, and
increasing visibility and public awareness of the PSF in the IT world, with
special focus on the Python community. An immediate goal is boosting the
PSF's "public support ratio" above 1/3 as quickly as possible. The PSC is
specifically not authorized to spend PSF funds without Board approval.
