ERD tools

Stephen raised a question regarding what tool to use for drawing an ERD. I plan to use Visio 2000 and/or Dia (an Open Source diagramming tool), both of which I have readily available.

We can easily upload the diagrams by adding a ../WikiName to the ERDs page, then when you click on the ? you use the this form link to upload an image instead of creating a new page. I've linked an example on that page.

Because this is the web, we can best exchange the created diagrams by exporting a GIF or a PNG file from our tool of choice before uploading. We could, of course, still share the source files if we all use the same tool.

Tools

Dia

Unfortunately, Dia doesn't do Crow's foot.

Visio

Both the 2000 and 2002 versions do Crow's foot notation. The file format is compatible, apparently.

Data Dictionary tool

We need to produce a DataDictionary. I'll assume for now we'll produce this in Excel, as suggested by Samuel.
